After making the 2025 Northern Football Netball League Division 2 Grand Final under first-year coach and former club premiership star Nick Lynch, the journey continues in 2026. There is so much to look forward to both on and off the field with our Senior and Reserves teams both competing in finals in 2025 and our history-making Women’s team making the finals in their very first year.
In 2026, our football programs will include Senior, Reserves, Under 19s and Women’s teams – and we welcome the return of our Netball team.
So here is why we’d love you to be part of our journey...
Macleod Football Club was formed 80 years ago in 1946 by Mr Harold Busbridge, the station master at the Macleod Railway Station, and together with several local identities, including Nick George (the club’s first captain), they worked hard to field our first senior team in 1947, playing games at what is now a very different looking De Winton Park in Rosanna.
Over the journey, the club has endured its share up ups and downs – like all footy clubs – but some 80 years on, we are thriving thanks to those pioneers. The club has worked closely with Banyule City Council and Rosanna Cricket Club to improve facilities at De Winton Park. New changerooms were completed at the start of 2003, and a gymnasium was completed in 2011, ensuring the club’s facilities rank among the best in the Northern Football Netball League.
In 2020, De Winton Park underwent a major facelift with new works and renovations. This included 110 Lux ground lights (night game standard), new ground surface and drainage with a new fence around the ground, all three car parks were sealed and marked, new shower and toilet facilities, new office and storage room, refurbished female and male toilets in the function room and an extended overhead veranda for greater protection from the weather.
The club has continued to foster its strong relationship with the Macleod Junior Football Club, and again we will share our ground and facilities with MJFC in 2026.
