Grand Final teams & latest news

The big day is almost here and everyone at the club is looking forward to playing in another Grand Final, our third in three years.

--

This time we are up against Bundoora, who downed Northcote Park in last week’s preliminary final. Selection was relatively pain-free with Liam Brandt returning to replace the unlucky Josh Totino, who tore his ACL in the second semi-final. Best of luck to coach Garry Ramsay and the boys – let’s bring home the bacon!

GRAND FINAL AFTER PARTY
After the game, we will head back to De Winton Park to wind down and hopefully have a very enjoyable night. There will be extra room to mingle under a big marquee (thanks to Derek Shaw) and there will be a DJ, gourmet finger food and the odd drink to wash it down. Entry is $10 for members and $20 for non-members and we are hiring bar staff and security to help make the night run smoothly. The rooms will be open late this afternoon if you would like to assist setting up and you can hang around and watch the Adelaide-Geelong preliminary final.

PRESENTATION NIGHT – THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 28
This year’s presentation night will be held next Thursday (Grand Final Eve) at De Winton Park. There will be street food, drinks at bar prices and heaps of entertainment as we celebrate the season and honour this year’s club champions. Please see Puffa or Jo McKeown to book your spot. Cost is $40.

CONGRATULATIONS
The club had a successful night at the NFL awards presentation this week in both the football and netball divisions. Jake Chiminello took out the reserves best and fairest and Ned McKeown was equal third in the seniors. Tenille Webb won the Section 7 netball best and fairest while Annie Bugden finished equal second in the Section 5 best and fairest. Annie was also the leading goalshooter in Section 5 with 275 goals.

PURCHASE A TABLE
Jo Esler has kindly put her hand up to coordinate the purchase of new tables.
The tables fold like a table tennis table, are on castor wheels and will be easy to store. They cost $395 each and if you or your business care to donate you will receive a plaque with your name (or your business name) on the table. It will be a permanent reminder of your support.
If you can assist or you would like more information, call Jo on 0418 458 182 or email her on jo@wdu.com.au. Get in quick, they are going fast! Also note for businesses, your purchase is tax deductible.
